Sudden death of Jacqui Ellis, student on the MSc in Leadership 2015 - Message from Professor Ciaran O'Boyle, Director.
On behalf of all staff of the Institute of Leadership and of the RCSI as a whole, I want to express our deep sadness on hearing of the sudden death of Jacqui Ellis, one of our students on the MSc in Leadership programme. Jacqui died suddenly on Saturday 31st October in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. Her untimely death comes as a shock to the team here at the Institute and to all her classmates, colleagues and friends.
Prior to coming to Ireland, Jacqui trained in the UK and selected palliative nursing as her specialism post registration. She was a Clinical Nurse Manager in Laura Lynn Hospice and she was also Team Leader for the "Hospice in the Home Project “. This week, Jacqui was due to receive an award from the Irish Medical Times sponsored Irish Healthcare Awards in recognition of her professionalism and innovation in palliative care.
Our deepest sympathy goes to Jacqui’s partner, Dave, and to her mother and brother who are currently travelling from New Zealand. Our sympathies also go to Jacqui’s classmates, work colleagues in Laura Lynn and to all her colleagues and friends.
Professor Ciarán O' Boyle
