November saw RCSI host two global receptions in Dubai and Bahrain, each welcoming alumni and surgeons from RCSI’s Dubai, Dublin and Bahrain campuses.
At the first reception, held in the Westin Hotel, Dubai, Aíne Gibbons, Director of Development - Alumni Relations, Fellows & Members, unveiled the inaugural two alumni portraits that will be hung on the new ‘Inspiring Excellence’ wall in the RCSI Dubai head office.
Selected in recognition of the difference they are making in healthcare across the UAE, these first two honourees are Dr Mohammad Al Redha (RCSI Dublin, Medicine, 2003 & RCSI Dubai MSc, 2007) and Sheikha Dr Alia Humaid Al Qassimi (RCSI Dubai MSc, 2008). Find out more about these two honourees here.
Speaking to the assembled group, Professor Cathal Kelly, RCSI's Chief Executive, took the opportunity to thank graduates for their ongoing support and reconfirmed that “The UAE and the Gulf are of huge importance to RCSI, and we look forward to continuing to deliver and support your health system’s needs.”
Following Dubai, the second reception, in Bahrain, hosted by the Presidents of RCSI and RCSI Bahrain, Professors John Hyland and Sameer Otoom, welcomed alumni and surgeons to the RCSI Bahrain campus for its annual Research Day and a standalone reception. Despite the “Irish” wet weather, the atmosphere was warm and abuzz with the exciting research taking place by students and Faculty, and convivial conversation was enjoyed.
